| Waltz |
The original "dirty dancing". Waltz was
originally banned from public ballrooms in the 18th century because
of the close proximity of the couple's bodies. Today this dance is
considered one of the most beautiful of the ballroom dances for it's
sweeping and gliding movement across the floor. |
 |
|
Foxtrot |
The first truly American
dance. Foxtrot was created by Vaudeville performer Harry Fox. Where
ever ballroom dancing is taking place, Foxtrot is one of the most
standard and popular dances today. |
 |
| Tango |
With roots from Argentina, the Tango "touch
dance" was originally a dance of courtship. Where the man would
compete for the attention of a lady. The modern American and
International style Tangos accentuate a dramatic hold and quick
stopping actions. |

|
Viennese Waltz |
There is a reason that all
Disney fairytales have the prince and princess twirling around the
dance floor with a Viennese Waltz at the end. This dance though fast
is magical (unless you get dizzy easy!) |
 |
| Quickstep |
The dance of joy. Combining elements from
Waltz and Foxtrot "the dancer that masters the fundamentals of
Quickstep will have command of a dance that will never grow stale."

| Cha Cha |
Originating as a variation off of the
popular Mambo, The Cha Cha first became popular in the 1950's. This
versatile dance is a must for any social dancer. You will find cha
cha music in latin, rock n' roll, and country/western genres. |
 |
|
Rumba |
You will certainly be moving
those hips in no time with this dance. A rhythmical and flirtatious
dance, the Rumba with Afro-Cuban roots places
an emphasis on the lady's hip and leg actions. |
 |
| Samba |
The Brazilian party dance. Exuberant and
bouncy, you will go from tapping your toes to the music, to wanting
to get up out of your seat and dance. |
 |
|
Paso Doble |
Known as the "man's" dance.
The Paso Doble portrays the story of the matador with the lady as
his cape. With Spanish flair the matador wields his cape as the
music marches on with intensity. |
 |
| Bolero |
Danced to romantic and sentimental melodies
the Bolero is the slowest of the Latin dances. Sensual by nature the
dance borrows elements from Rumba and Waltz. |
 |
|
Mambo |
A spicy blend of Cuban and
American Jazz music, Mambo first came on the scene in the 1940's.
Both Cha Cha and Salsa can trace their dance roots to the Mambo. |

| Eastcoast "Swing" |
Swing has been a popular dance form since
the 1920's, but the "rock n' roll" version of the dance was first
made popular in the 1950's, and called the Eastcoast Swing. There
are 3 popular timings of this dance that lends it self to covering
70% of the music played at social events. |
 |
|
Salsa |
There are many versions of
Salsa, as each generation and region has influenced this dance
style. It is a hot Latin dance, and one of the most popular club
dances in the United States. |
 |
| Merengue |
If you can march, and count to 4 you are on
your way to learning the easiest of the club style Latin dances.
Recommended for anyone planning on going to local Salsa clubs, or
for those wanting to learn Cuban hip action for other Latin dances. |

|
Foxxy |
Looking to learn to slow
dance for a wedding, cruise, or just for fun? Waddle no more, try
something a bit more sophisticated to those ballads. Foxxy blends
Foxtrot moves with rhythmical sway actions. |
 |
| Jive |
A competitive version of Swing from Europe,
the Jive is the fastest of the Swing dances we teach in our school.
This dance is a great workout in addition to being a lot of fun. |
