Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I get started?

Try our new student special which includes two private lessons for the price of one plus a free group class. It is best to start with a private lesson so that our team can begin to help you set goals and create a customized training plan. Call or email to make your first appointment.

What should I wear?

Wear clothing that moves with you easily. Your shoes should be flexible, fit closely to your feet and fasten securely. A smooth leather sole is best. Heavy tread, rubber soles, and backless shoes are not good for your feet while dancing.

How many lessons will I need?
For social dancing and special events such as a wedding, allow a minimum of five private lessons to learn to execute a basic social dance at a level just beyond beginner.
There are broad levels of abilities in social dancing, from couples with skill in a single dance to style-crossing aficionados.

For more serious dancers who wish to compete, a continuous multi-month training program is recommended.

Which dance is best for beginners?

Fox Trot is the foundation for partnership dancing.  It’s always useful and appropriate. If you don’t have a preference for the style of music you’d like to dance to your instructor will guide you through the process. Swing, Salsa, Nightclub and Country Western dances are a good augment to the classic social dances and there are many opportunities to use them.

Is a partner needed for learning?

Our lessons are made for couples as well as single dancers. Beginning with private lessons you will be dancing with an instructor – which is the fastest learning method.  Group classes and practice sessions are made up of solo students and students with partners supervised by instructors. Opportunities to practice with other students are built in to the class structure.

I have a deadline, can you help me out?

If you’re in a hurry we will do our best to accommodate you with appointments with one or more instructors whenever you’re available. Your program will be planned to your best advantage.
